The journey
Kasauli was one of those trips that happened because all of us desperately needed to get out of the city.
Nothing dramatic. No huge itinerary. No bucket-list pressure.
Just four girls, one car, a weekend in the hills, and absolutely no intention of checking work notifications. 😭
I went with Meher, Aditi and Shanaya, and honestly, the drive itself was enough entertainment for the entire trip. Someone wanted Bollywood, someone wanted Punjabi, someone wanted "soft mountain vibes," and somehow our playlist went from Arijit Singh to completely chaotic dance songs within ten minutes.
The moment we started seeing pine trees and those cute little mountain roads, everyone suddenly had the exact same reaction:
"STOPPP, this is so pretty!"
Which obviously meant stopping the car for pictures approximately every fifteen minutes.
After reaching Kasauli, we checked into this really cute hillside stay with a balcony overlooking the valley. The original plan was to drop our bags and immediately go sightseeing.
Instead, we made coffee, sat on the balcony and started talking.
One hour disappeared.
Then another.
Eventually someone remembered, "Guys… didn't we come here to explore?" 😂
We finally dragged ourselves out and walked around **Mall Road**, stopping at tiny shops, buying random souvenirs and eating way more than necessary. There is something about cold mountain weather that makes you believe momos, Maggi and chai have absolutely zero calories.
The next morning, we somehow managed to wake up early and went towards **Gilbert Trail**. And honestly? Easily my favourite part of Kasauli.
Pine trees everywhere, fresh morning air, beautiful valley views and almost complete silence. For approximately five minutes we were all peaceful, sophisticated mountain girls.
Then someone almost stepped into mud and the screaming started.
Peace over.
Later we walked up towards Monkey Point, which sounded like a fantastic idea when we were planning it.
Halfway up, everyone suddenly became very interested in taking "scenic breaks."
Which basically meant:
"We're tired but nobody wants to admit it." 😭
Evenings were probably the best part though. We'd find a small café, order coffee and snacks, sit somewhere overlooking the hills and just talk.
Work gossip.
Relationship gossip.
Family drama.
Future travel plans.
Basically everything that couldn't possibly fit into our normal group chat.
Our last evening was super simple. We grabbed some snacks, went back to the hotel and sat on the balcony wrapped in blankets while the temperature dropped.
No fancy plans.
No dressing up.
No rushing anywhere.
Just four friends talking and laughing until ridiculously late.
And honestly, that's exactly why I remember Kasauli so fondly.
It wasn't some massive adventure.
It was just a little weekend in the mountains with my girls when all of us needed one.
Sometimes that's more than enough. 🤍
