Sikkim — Mountains, Memories and Three Best Friends

The journey

Our trip to Sikkim with Rohit and Piyush was one of those journeys that reminded us why travelling with close friends is so special. After weeks of planning, comparing hotel prices, and arguing over who would book what, we finally packed our bags and headed towards the beautiful mountains of Sikkim.

The drive through the winding mountain roads was an adventure in itself. Every few kilometres we found another viewpoint that forced us to stop the car. What was supposed to be a six-hour journey turned into almost eight hours because nobody could resist taking photographs of the valleys, waterfalls, and colourful prayer flags along the way.

Gangtok became our base for the trip. We spent the evenings walking along MG Marg, trying local food, exploring cafés, and enjoying the lively atmosphere. We promised ourselves we would sleep early every night to start sightseeing on time the next morning, but somehow every night ended with long conversations, card games, and endless laughter in the hotel room.

One of the most unforgettable experiences was visiting **Tsomgo Lake**. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains and icy winds, the place looked like something straight out of a postcard. We spent hours clicking photos, throwing snow at each other, and pretending we weren't freezing, even though all three of us were secretly looking for the nearest tea stall.

The funniest incident happened on the way to Nathula Pass. Rohit confidently claimed he knew a shortcut for taking photos at the perfect viewpoint. We followed him without questioning, only to realise a few minutes later that he had led us to a dead end. Instead of getting annoyed, we laughed so much that the wrong turn became one of the best memories of the trip. From then on, nobody trusted Rohit as the group's navigator.

Another memorable day was spent at **Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple**, where we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and beautiful mountain views. Every stop during the journey offered something different, whether it was a waterfall, a small café, or simply another breathtaking view of the Himalayas.

The evenings were our favourite. Sitting together with hot cups of tea, talking about life, planning future trips, and laughing over everything that had happened during the day made the journey even more memorable. We realised that the destination was beautiful, but it was the company that made every moment unforgettable.

By the time we left Sikkim, our phones were filled with photographs, funny videos, and countless inside jokes. We returned home with tired legs, unforgettable memories, and one common thought—we had to come back to the mountains again.
