Goa in the Monsoon Just Hits Different

Everyone thinks Goa is all about sunny beaches and summer vacations.

But honestly? Monsoon Goa is a whole different vibe, and after this trip, I don't think I'd mind choosing the rainy season all over again.

The plan was simple—get away for a few days with friends, explore South Goa, and finally experience the famous Dudhsagar Falls during peak monsoon. Looking back, it turned out to be one of those trips where everything wasn't perfect... and that's exactly what made it memorable.

The rain literally welcomed us the moment we landed. Instead of getting annoyed, we just laughed because somehow the weather made everything look greener, fresher, and more alive.

The highlight of the trip was definitely the jeep safari to Dudhsagar Falls.

If you've never sat in an open jeep bouncing through muddy forest trails while getting completely drenched, you're seriously missing out. Every puddle felt like a mini water ride. We were screaming, laughing, holding on for dear life, and somehow enjoying every second of it.

By the time we finally reached Dudhsagar, we had mud on our shoes, rain in our hair, and zero regrets.

Seeing the waterfall in full monsoon flow was honestly unreal. The amount of water crashing down, the mist everywhere, and the sound of the falls made us forget the tiring jeep ride instantly. We spent so much time just standing there, taking it all in, before obviously turning the place into another mini photoshoot.

After all that adventure, we shifted gears and explored South Goa, which honestly felt completely different from the Goa people usually imagine.

Quiet beaches, almost empty roads, tiny cafés, and endless greenery... it felt peaceful in the best possible way.

One afternoon we randomly stopped at a beach because there was literally nobody around. It started drizzling again, so instead of running for cover, we just walked along the shore getting completely soaked. At that point there wasn't much left to save anyway.

The funniest moment happened while driving through South Goa. We saw a roadside shack selling hot bhutta and chai, so obviously we stopped. The plan was "five minutes."

Forty-five minutes later we were still sitting there, watching the rain, eating pakoras, discussing life, and completely forgetting where we were supposed to go next.

Honestly... that's probably my favourite memory from the entire trip.

We also explored a few old Portuguese streets, visited quiet churches, drove through villages surrounded by coconut trees, and found cafés that looked like they'd been copied straight from Pinterest.

By the last evening, nobody wanted to leave. We sat at the beach watching dark clouds slowly roll over the sea, talking about how this trip had been so different from the Goa we'd imagined.

No beach parties.

No crazy nightlife.

Just rain, road trips, forests, waterfalls, beaches, and some of my favourite people.

And somehow... that version of Goa felt even better.

Now whenever someone says, "Goa in monsoon? Why would you go then?" I just smile.

Because they clearly haven't experienced it yet.
