The journey
My first solo trip to Spiti Valley was short, but it gave me memories and confidence that will stay with me for a long time. It was my first time travelling completely on my own, and I started the journey with a mixture of excitement, nervousness, and curiosity.
As the roads became narrower and the mountains grew taller, I slowly forgot about the nervousness I had felt at the beginning. The changing landscapes, deep valleys, and quiet roads made every part of the journey feel like an adventure. Travelling alone gave me the freedom to stop whenever I wanted, enjoy the views for as long as I liked, and experience the mountains at my own pace.
During my stay, I explored Kaza and visited the beautiful Key Monastery. Sitting quietly at the monastery and looking at the mountains around me gave me a sense of peace that was difficult to describe. I also visited nearby villages, interacted with local people, and enjoyed the simple lifestyle of the region.
One of the most memorable parts of the trip was spending an evening under the clear mountain sky. Away from city lights, the stars looked brighter than I had ever seen before. I sat outside my stay for a while, enjoying the silence and thinking about how far I had come—not only in distance but also in confidence.
Although the trip lasted only three days, it taught me that travelling alone does not mean feeling lonely. I met fellow travellers, shared stories, and discovered that stepping outside my comfort zone could lead to some of the best experiences.
Spiti Valley gave me my first taste of solo travel. I returned with beautiful photographs, unforgettable mountain views, and the confidence to plan many more journeys on my own.
