About this trip
Unwind on India’s east coast with a relaxed four-day escape to Puducherry (Pondicherry). Wander the colonial streets of the White Town French Quarter, cycle or stroll the seaside promenade, taste Franco-Tamil café food and visit the experimental township of Auroville.
Travel plan:
Day 1 – Arrival and Promenade
Arrive from Chennai or Puducherry Airport / railway connections, check in near White Town and spend the evening on Beach Road / Goubert Avenue for sunset and sea breeze.
Day 2 – French Quarter heritage
Walk the pastel lanes of White Town, visit the Pondicherry Museum area, churches and local boutiques. Free time for cafés, bakeries and cycling along the promenade.
Day 3 – Auroville and beaches
Morning visit to Auroville (Matrimandir viewing from the Visitors Centre; inner chamber requires advance booking). Continue to Paradise Beach or Serenity Beach depending on conditions, then return for a relaxed evening.
Day 4 – Departure
Breakfast, last-minute shopping at Goubert Market or local stores, then transfer for your onward journey.
