About this trip

Explore the eastern Himalaya on a six-day holiday pairing West Bengal’s Queen of the Hills with Sikkim’s capital. Watch sunrise light up Kanchenjunga from Tiger Hill, ride the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway toy train, stroll Gangtok’s MG Marg and drive up to glacial Tsomgo Lake.

Travel plan:

Day 1 – Arrive and transfer to Darjeeling
Meet at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and drive up to Darjeeling. Check in and enjoy a relaxed evening on Mall Road / Chowrasta.

Day 2 – Tiger Hill and Darjeeling sightseeing
Early morning visit to Tiger Hill for sunrise views of Kanchenjunga (weather permitting). Continue to Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, a tea estate and local viewpoints. Optional short joyride on the toy train.

Day 3 – Darjeeling to Gangtok
After breakfast, drive to Gangtok. Check in and spend the evening on MG Marg.

Day 4 – Gangtok city tour
Visit Enchey Monastery, Tashi Viewpoint, the Flower Show / local parks and the ropeway (subject to operation). Free time for cafés and shopping.

Day 5 – Tsomgo Lake excursion
Day trip to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake and Baba Mandir with permits arranged through a registered operator. Nathula Pass can be added when open and permitted.

Day 6 – Departure
Drive down to Bagdogra or NJP for your onward journey.
